This is the Approved Description – For BioSignature Practitioner Use Only:
BioSignature Modulation is a cutting-edge, non-invasive fat loss and wellness program originally developed by World renowned strength coach Charles Poliquin.

Through specific body fat measurements and client assessment, BioSignature practitioners recommend an individualized program of nutrition, supplementation, and lifestyle modifications based on your unique BioSignature. It is a safe and natural solution to losing stubborn body fat and achieving wellness – and ultimately, a higher quality of life. Whether you are a professional athlete, business executive, or a stay at home mom – BioSignature can help!
BioSignature Modulation produces real, noticeable results – and fast. It is not uncommon to see results in as little as two weeks. Unlike other methods of fat loss available today, with BioSignature you will see improvements in many other areas of your life too. Participants commonly report increased mental clarity, improved quality of sleep, higher energy levels, and a more positive outlook. Supplementation is a very controversial topic amongst trainers within the health and fitness world. Some saying it is mandatory for ultimate health and wellbeing while others saying the effects on our health and wellbeing are minimal if present at all.
At Hybrid Kombat we believe, that due to the ever diminishing quality of our resources, we simply cannot attain all the nutrients needed for optimal health from the food we ingest. Even with a balanced diet that is full of fresh, organic and unrefined foods, we believe there is still a hand full of important supplements needed by our bodies.
Who can truly say that every meal they eat is completely biodynamic, organic and unprocessed? I don’t think anyone….Even the best of the best, can’t say they do this 100% of the time.
The other major reason to supplement is due to the internal and external stressors of everyday life. Personally, I don’t think anyone can claim they are actually immune to stress, especially considering that the levels of stress we are exposed to today are 200% higher than our grandfathers!
When we are stressed the body utilises the nutrients we get from our diet to counter its negative effects. As we are aware, even if our diet is perfect, it simply cannot provide all the nutrients needed for general function, let alone to combat the effects of stress.
If you are exposed to any of the following:
- Lack of quality sleep
- Unhealthy living habits (Drinking, smoking, no exercise)
- Poor diet choices and Eating refined (processed) foods
- Ingesting foods we are actually intolerant too
- Exposure to pollutants, toxins, pesticides, herbicides and insecticides
- Financial, Relationship, Living , Work and Emotional anxieties and pressures
- Everyday responsibilities (money, care, work)
- The effects of aging
- Medication stress
- Major and Minor Illness and disabilities
- Inadequate Rest and Recovery
…..then you are stressed to some degree!
If this is true then you require the extra help gained by taking quality and personalised supplements (achieved by a BioSignature Modulation consult…see link) to help regain your optimal health and fitness!
Not all supplements are created equal and in my opinion there is simply no better quality when it comes to supplements then those produced and sold at Poliquin.
Charles Poliuquin is one of the most iconic coaching figures in the world of Strength & Conditioning, successfully coaching many World class and Olympic athletes to victory in their chosen fields. He is an extremely intelligent and successful coach and wouldn’t risk a lifetime of passionate research, study and work, by producing and putting his name to anything less than the highest possible quality products.
As Poliquin supplements are used by athletes all over the world who undergo stringent drug testing protocols, they must be:
- The best possible quality.
- Safe and regulated.
- Exactly what they say they are in the nutritional panel.
- Specifically manufactured to produce superior human performance/function.
Personally, I don’t need any other persuasion than this to take these quality products.
Wow, if Athletes (please see link below) have used these and become gold medallist/best in their field, they can surely help me be the strongest, fittest and healthiest I can!
http://www.strengthsensei.com/charles-poliquin/
Here are the personal benefits I have experienced from taking Poliquin Supplements:
- Overcome the effects of Glandular fever
- Escape the constant discomfort of Gastro-Intestinal (G.I.) problems
- Remain energised and happy even with my excessive workload
- Sleep better and recover faster
- Stress less and be more positive
- More effective immune system-receiving a significant decrease in colds/flus.
- Become the strongest and fittest I have ever been
- Understand the true need and importance of supplements.
If you require a little more information on why Poliquin Supplements are simply the best please follow this link and read this article on quality assurance:
No. All you need to do is become an online member of Hybrid Kombat and follow the links to purchase the supplements recommended by a qualified BioSignature Practitioner.
I highly recommend and strongly advice that a BioSignature Consultation and the online Hybrid Kombat Health consultation has been completed before ordering any Poliquin Supplements. Uneducated or wrongly advised purchases may lead to health issues and possible complications.
It is a personal decision and also one that may be made for you by your practitioner.
Most people will have a regular BioSignature consults completed every 4 weeks.
The frequency of the consult may also vary depending on the following aspects:
- Health and Fitness Goal
- Importance of Goal established
- Timeframe allocated
- Mentality/Motivation of the client
- Severity of the health issue/s
- Access to Trainer and BioSignature Practitioner
- Number of Personal Training sessions completed per week
WEIGHT LOSS AND PALEO:
Paleo, as constructed by Ph.D. Loren Cordain, is a present day diet (the usual food & drink of a person/animal) based on those who existed over 10000 years ago in the Palaeolithic era. Cavemen, as they are known today, were hunter-gatherers whose principal diet consisted of animal proteins, eggs, vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds and water. The Paleo diet is a low processed carbohydrate, high protein and high fat diet.
Even though we have evolved from this era, I and many other professionals believe that our digestive tract hasn’t. Through science, research and personal experience, we believe, that optimum digestion, energy levels and fat stores are obtained by eating in a very similar way and consuming very similar food groups. Eating in such a way keeps our insulin and blood glucose levels balanced, prevents the body storing excess fat and allows the natural fat burning process to remain unhindered.
The Paleo diet is effective for weight loss, the prevention of diseases’ (Including Diabetes and Heart Disease. Two of Australia’s biggest killers), physical maintenance, increase energy and stamina and to “de-junk” our bodies of all nasty and refined food abuse from over the years. There are no health risks, yo-yo weight loss or side effects linked to the Paleo Diet. The only negatives associated with it that I have encountered are:
- Possible carb withdrawals
This will only occur if you stop eating processed carbs cold turkey. Take your time and ween yourself off them….be nice to yourself and minimise stress.
- A larger food bill – Organic and healthy foods are ludicrously expensive.
- Food Preparation and Cooking is initially more time consuming.
Learning a new skill takes time, but can be mastered very quickly. Just be prepared and patient. There are heaps of Paleo cook book and meal ideas available, buy some, become acquainted and prepare food in bulk to save time.
- A possible loss in certain nutrients by not eating Processed Carbohydrates and Dairy.
This is countered by the increased intake of fruits and vegetables and the use of supplements will counter this concern adequately.
Personally, if these are the only speed bumps to overcome to achieve optimal health, we simply have no excuse 🙂
Unfortunately, due to rules and regulations only a nutritionist/dietician or of an equivalent education can actually write nutritional programs.
I however can give you all of my nutritional recommendations and all the help I humanly can in regards to diet; recipes and cooking; how to shop and all other queries/questions related to creating an optimal and healthy lifestyle for you and your family.
No!!! Weightlifting, or in my case, Strength and Conditioning is far more effective and superior to cardio for body composition changes and fat loss. In saying this, some forms of cardio are actually very effective in helping a client to achieve their health and fitness goals. The 2 forms of cardio I personally use and prescribe are METCON (Metabolic Conditioning) and H.I.I.T (High Intensity Interval Training).
METCON:
In my professional view METCON is a sequence of exercises performed in a non-stop, high intensity circuit. METCON workouts consist of 1-4 sets that are predominately 60-90 seconds in length, consist anywhere from 4-12 exercises, performed with little or no rest between each exercise. Your goal in a metabolic conditioning circuit is to complete every exercise as fast as possible or to perform as many repetitions of the given exercise in the time permitted whilst keeping a good form (technique).
H.I.I.T:
As with Metabolic conditioning, H.I.I.T also falls under the label of metabolic conditioning.
Traditional H.I.I.T sessions refer to a type of cardiovascular training (predominantly using running) that is comprised of short, high intensity intervals followed by slower recovery intervals using a 2:1 ratio (rest intervals that are twice as long as the work intervals) lasting no longer than 20 minutes each session. H.I.I.T sessions are ideally completed outdoors, though are extremely successful and effective on a treadmill or bike.
Hybrid Kombat uses Strength and Conditioning coupled with METCON and H.I.I.T training as a very productive and time effective way to increase clients and athlete’s anaerobic and aerobic (short and long distance/endurance) fitness whilst efficiently building lean muscle mass and burning body fat without the catastrophic effects of catabolism (the burning of lean muscle tissue for fuel).
In my opinion there are 5 very important pillars that must be addressed in order for a client/athlete to obtain optimal health and successfully accomplishment all their health and fitness goals.
I believe that stress (predominately internal) is the most prominent form of trauma the body is exposed to on a regular basis and is therefore the issue that must be addressed first. Stress causes a significant drop in optimal performance, leads to the oxidisation (ageing) of cells, inflammation and sickness. To limit the amount of stress the body is exposed to we need to first focus on toxicology and find effective ways to limit this toxic load.
Eating organic foods; limiting our consumption of processed foods; drinking only filtered water; taking quality supplements to counter the lack of nutrients in our food; finding ways to rest and recover efficiently and creating a positive and energetic mental attitude concerning health and fitness are, in my opinion, the first and foremost focus in a new clients journey. Once the body’s endocrinology is fixed and the toxic load minimised weight loss will happen without the need for exercise. Exercise simply helps speed up the process, creates muscle mass, makes us feel good and creates longevity.
TRAINING AND FITNESS:
Controlling internal stress is extremely important in governing inflammation and actually allowing for weight loss. Put simply, if the body is stressed, weight loss is impossible!
I.e. Stressing about what the bathroom scales read is a sure-fire way to you hold onto those dreaded kilos!
Whilst resting, the body physiologically repairs itself. Replenishing muscle glycogen, rebuilding and repairing tiny muscle tears, essentially making you stronger and fitter for your next session. Without this rest you will experience a decline in performance, feel excessively tired and struggle during your workouts. This is because physiologically the body isn’t prepared to handle the stress of another workout and simply needs to rest.
True rest, in the health and fitness world, is defined as a minimum of 8 hours, solid, unbroken sleep. This allows the body a complete recovery phase.
Well yes, this is predominately why the site was developed!!
I wanted to provide people with scientific and totally personalised programming options for all their training needs: Incorporating space, equipment, time, frequency, goal, motivation level and training knowledge.
Hybrid Kombat revolves around science and technical correct movements based on the body’s biomechanics. My aim is to teach you how to bring these elements to your own training, teaching you how to train precise, smart and hard without injury or any physical setbacks using programs developed for specific goals either written by myself or by you with my guidance and help.
My recommendations to all seeking Personal Training are 2×30 minute Personal Training (PT) Sessions per week for a minimum of 8 weeks.
I believe this initial timeframe helps the client develop a routine, create healthy training habits and to start mentally focussing on their training. It will let the client establish what is required of them mentally, physically and psychologically to achieve their goals, start to feel changes with their energy levels and possibly even see physical changes.
This amount of training allows the client to get a “real” feel for strength and conditioning, technically correct training and what types of training actually facilitate changes physically. Giving them the start to what personal Training truly is – A Education!!
I am often asked “What about 1×30 minute Personal training session per week”?
Well to truly learn something you need to do it regularly-Right? Once a week will not help you facilitate changes; all it will provide you with is some amazing training ideas, a new level of exertion and possibly a new found motivation – but not the physical and mental changes your truly desire.
The amount of training sessions needed after the initial stages is very diverse and totally dependent on the client’s goal and the period allocated to achieve the task at hand. A new client can train from anywhere from 2-6 days per week.
These are the 10 rules I enforce:
- Get your diet, supplementation, mentality right first!
- No EGO whilst training…Leave it at home!
- The gym is a place to work, not socialise-You can do this after your workout J
- No more than 60 minutes per session (unless its team training i.e. gridiron).
- All clients train at a Rate of Perceived Exertion (RPE) of 7-9 out of 10 per session
- If your form falters, change weight or receive help immediately. DO NOT RISK INJURY!
- Clients on programs: A variable (weight/reps/sets) must changes every session.
- All clients MUST have a minimum of ONE FULL DAY of REST AND RECOVERY.
- If a client is unwell, stay home and rest. If you train go easy and listen to your body.
- Please train with a towel and clean items you use…..NO EXCUSES!
This is completely dependent on the client and how quickly they adapt to their program. As I teach my clients that every time the program is completed a variable (repetitions/sets/weight/timeframe) must change. Once the client is completing the maximum repetitions prescribed, they will then work to complete the maximum sets prescribed once both repetitions and sets are achieved the client must start to vary the weight. This process allows for adaptation to occur every time the session is complete and prevents for a plateau resulting stunted results. With the information correctly followed programs created at Hybrid Kombat are designed to last 8 weeks. You are able to gauge your adaption by using the Rate of Perceived Exertion (RPE) once you are completing the program and varying the weights effectively. If you start scoring anything below a 6/10 you are ready for a new program.
I recommend clients use their first 8 week program as a tester. If you are scoring above 8/10 by the eight week then you should look at receiving g a program every 10 to 12 weeks. If you are scoring 6/10 by the seventh week, then you should look at receiving your programs every 6 weeks.
I often have people say “I am simply not fit enough to train with you?”
Of course you are! You have to start somewhere, so why not do it the fastest and safest way possible and use…..PROFESSIONAL HELP!
I believe once you have a goal, seek the best possible advice/help/coaching available to you and do it right the first time!
I look the way I do from years of hard work, blood sweat, tears and….professional help!
Yep, I also had a personal trainer, even though I was one.
I am living proof that with a little hard work, a positive mentality and the most passionate and professional help anything and everything you want is possible!
Just remember “If it was easy, we would all look slim, strong and sexy!”
By completing sets in this fashion participants will push their body into what’s called an anaerobic threshold. A person’s anaerobic threshold is a state which is only achieved through extremely intense conditions and is that startling and sometimes scary zone where the participant will experience breathlessness; feel dizzy or light headed and may feel as though their heart is in their mouth.
A well trained person’s anaerobic threshold is typically reached at approximately 90% of their maximum heart rate, while an untrained person’s threshold is reached at approximately 70% of their maximum heart rate.
Anaerobic threshold is best determined by subtracting your age from 220 (the typical equation for determining maximum heart rate) and then multiplying it by 0.90 or 0.70 (determining 90% or 70% of maximum heart rate).
By pushing your body into a state of anaerobic threshold, oxygen is no longer a suitable source of fuel and the body begins to burn stored fuels such as sugars and fats to keep up with the demand being placed on the body through such strenuous exercise. In this state the body will produce lactic acid as a by-product of such intense workouts. The release of lactic acid into the blood stream will stimulate certain chemical reactions within the body which produce and release Human Growth Hormone. Human Growth Hormones are a vital component in muscle recovery, muscles mass and fat loss and therefore the more we produce the more we produce the more fat we burn and muscle we build!

Traditional HIIT sessions refer to a type of cardiovascular training (predominantly using running) that is comprised of short, high intensity intervals followed by longer, slower recovery intervals using a 2:1 ratio (rest intervals that are twice as long as the work intervals) lasting no longer than 20 minutes each session. To determine intensity during these sessions participants simply use a gauge known as a rate of perceived exertion (RPE) which is simply a 1-10 score, 10 indicating maximal effort/exertion while 1 indicating minimal effort/exertion. During your HIIT session for intervals of high intensity a score of 8-10 must be achieved, while in the recovery intervals a score of 4-6 is appropriate. HIIT sessions are ideally completed outdoors, though are extremely successful and effective on a treadmill or bike if the participant has weak knees.
At Hybrid Kombat, as we endorse the saying train smart and train hard we have embraced HIIT as a highly effective replacement for steady state/endurance cardio. Hybrid Kombat uses HIIT training as a time consuming way to increase our athlete’s and client’s short distance (anaerobic) and endurance (aerobic) fitness and to efficiently burn body fat without the catastrophic effects of catabolism (the burning of lean muscle tissue for fuel) that comes from steady state cardio.

Within Hybrid Kombat Strength & Conditioning is used for both athletic and non-athletic development of clientele. Strength and Conditioning is predominately used by Hybrid Kombat with Martial Artists and Athletes to develop strength, muscular endurance, speed, power, agility, increased Range of Motion and Flexibility, but is also a tried and tested way for those training for more basic goals of weight loss, strength gain, definition and general bodily aesthetics. We similarly use Strength and Conditioning as a method of teaching women that they can do weight work without the risk of injury, embarrassment or becoming “Bulky”. Strength and Conditioning is a style of training used to improve physical performance, strength and achieve optimal body mass composition. Strength and conditioning creates long, lean strong muscles, allowing women to feel empowered on the gym floor and effectively burn fat!
Remember: The more muscle you have the more calories you burn!
**Remember: 1kg of lean muscle tissues burns 10 calories per day by simply existing in the body!
Strength in a sporting definition, applies to force, while conditioning applies to the application of movement. These principals, applied to scientific programming, allows for results that ultimately conclude in the development of the body to be able to create maximal force, repetition after repetition, without undue stress and fatigue being felt by the body. Strength and Conditioning also allows for the improvement of overall performance, prevention of injuries and the development of proper body mechanics and movement within a chosen sport.
FitRanX is a fitness ranking system used all around the world. It is a real ranking system that took years to develop and perfect used to gauge your fitness and strength.
FitRanX provides participants with an abundance of short time goals, is designed to suit all ages and doesn’t require exercise knowledge or a particular fitness level.
All that is required for FitRanX is a want to be fitter, faster and stronger, whilst having fun!
FitRanX is learnt in small (6-12 people) 30-45 minute group sessions and tailored to develop all the strength and cardiovascular exercises used in the corresponding FitRanX levels.
In order to level-up, all participants must complete a fitness test equivalent to the level they are currently at. Tests use specific exercises to determine strength within the exercises’ respected muscle group and all include a conditioning (fitness) phase. Both the strength and fitness components of each test must be passed in order for the participant to complete the level and receive their next FitRanX band.
There are 8 levels all with corresponding colours. The rank of the participant is displayed by a funky, coloured hand-made (with love and energy) FitRanX band. Bands are worn at each session to display current level and help motivate and inspire all of their FitRanX colleagues.

Sure Do!!!
At present I teach traditional (Outdoor) Bootcamps and also Hybrid Bootcamps that are conducted in the gym using gym equipment! Our Hybrid Bootcamps are equally as hard, fun and rewarding as the traditional Bootcamp, just operated in a different location using a handful of different equipment. I provide my clients with the two options as I believe:
“Variety is the spice of life that keeps the body guessing and provided a stimulus every session. Variety prevents boredom, plateaued results and keeps you motivated!”
Why our Bootcamps are so good:
- Are taught by a tremendously passionate, enthusiast and vastly qualified PT.
- Are affordable and amazing quality.
- Include a vast variety of safe and fun exercises.
- Create a real sense of comradery.
- Are engaging and heaps of fun!
- Tailored to all age, fitness and strengths.
- Brilliant conditioning sessions for all sport and gym goals.
- Deliver a Brilliant start to your day.
- ARE REWARDING AND GENERATE RESULTS!!!
Yes. In the gym the largest group I will teach at one time is 2-12 people per class.
I limit the amount of attendants in the groups so the trainer can effectively focus on technic and bio-mechanics, individuals feel safe and receive ample help and support and so we do not disrupt the other members of the gym.
During small group sessions you can chose to participate in Hybrid Kombat Bootcamps, FitRanX’s, Metabolic Conditioning and Strength & Conditioning. The nature of the training is entirely up to you and the consensus of your group, though occasionally, a particular type of training may be suggested by the trainer to suit the particular sport, strength and fitness goals of the group.
Small group training is great for:
- Learning new exercises and correcting incorrect/dangerous techniques
- Increasing motivation and energy levels.
- Creating a close-knit group (especially helpful for team sport athletes).
- Achieving health and fitness goals,
- Making new friends and possibly new training buddies.
- Increasing your strength and fitness
- Losing body fat whilst having fun.
- ACHIEVING RESULTS AND LOOKING FABULOUS!
Of course you can! Just be wary and choose someone with similar goals and mindset. You don’t want an “energy vampire” sucking you dry before you even start your workout, nor do you want someone who makes you feel miserable and demotivated because they are already so much fitter and stronger than you. Choose a workout buddy at your fitness level and help each other achieving amazing results!
Honestly…exercise whenever you can!
Working out when you can is better than no workout.
As research on what time of day is best is very limited and very controversial I recommend finding a time that you can consistently dedicate to exercise and sticking to it.
Psychologically, if you teach your body to train at a particular time, you will become strongest, fittest and have the best endurance at this time.
As a general rule, I professionally, along with many renowned Health and Fitness professionals, believe that all training sessions should be capped at 60 minutes.
I personally limit my sessions to 60 minutes, though I do believe that timeframe is very dependent on the type of exercise and also the goal in mind.
Below are my professional recommendations on timeframe for specific types of training:
WEIGHT TRAINING:
In weight training (Strength and Conditioning) the aim is to create hypertrophy (muscle damage). Hypertrophy of a muscle is increased with every set you perform and I professionally believe, along with many other renowned health and fitness professionals, 45-60 minutes of weight training will prevent overtraining and limit the possibility for muscle atrophy.
H.I.I.T:
I professionally, along with many other renowned health and fitness professionals, believe that the maximum timeframe should be 20 minutes.
From personal experience I know that you can complete a successful and super effective H.I.I.T session in 12 minutes if structured correctly.
METCON AND FITRANX:
When conducting MetCon and FitRanX sessions the timeframe allocated is 30-45 minutes.
Do to the high intensity and aggressive nature of these sessions I believe that a longer timeframe risks injury, muscle atrophy and leads to a drop in performance of consecutive training days.
BOOTCAMPS:
All bootcamps run from 45-60 minutes. Bootcamps incorporate a number of team and partner exercises and therefore, in relation to MetCon and FitRanX, are less intense and can therefore be run over a longer time.
ENDURANCE:
This is one exception to the 60 minute training rule and is truly dependant on the event and distance being trained for. These sessions can last anywhere from 60 minutes to 3 hours.
INDIVIDUAL AND TEAM SPORTS ATHLETES:
This is the other exception to the rule. Due to the nature sports and the number of different aspect a coach needs to focus on, training timeframes will vary from session to session.
I professionally believe (as I am a National Team Athlete) that a maximum of 3 hours should be maintained to minimise injury and a decline in training ability due to exhaustion.
True Results can be seen in 8 weeks with just two 30 minute sessions a week!
With this recommendation the client will develop a routine, start to create healthy exercise habits and become mentally focus on their training.
After the initial 8 weeks is complete a client has establish what is required mentally, physically and psychologically to achieve their goals, feel changes in their energy and even see results physically. The physical changes attained in 8 weeks will vary from client to client and is completely dependent on implementation of the advice given and the level interested and committed given to the goal at hand.
Remember: “The “Want” is illustrated by the level of results achieved!”
Absolutely! All members are required to fill out an in-depth online Health Consult to help us determine the exercises suitable for you and your personalised training program.

Yep! With my extensive background in Tae Kwon Do, Muay Tai and Boxing of course I do :). I teach a hybrid form of martial art, “Hybrid Kombat” which unites these three styles and also incorporates my skill in body mechanics, structural balance and correct body movement.
Hybrid Kombat is all about learning how to punch, kick and preform movements from each Martial Art both technically correct and safely. It is not a cardio boxing class where poor form is neglected in pursuit of a cardio burn and huge sweat.
Don’t get me wrong, you will definitely work hard during a Hybrid Kombat class, and I would even go as far as saying that once you have established precise technique you will actually work twice as hard as a cardio boxing class, whilst looking like a real martial artist!
I teach Hybrid Kombat in small groups, where you will work predominantly with a partner. By the end of a 12 month course, completing two 45 minute sessions per week, you will have the basic techniques and footwork in three major martial arts and the ability to defend yourself if it was ever necessary (let’s hope it is never ever required).
Hybrid Kombat is functional, technical, fun and rewarding. During classes you will engage in various hand, foot, elbow, knee drills and combinations whilst also being asked to do basic strength and fitness exercises. You will learn how to evade hits, use your footwork to move out of harm’s way and effectively defend yourself against an opponent.
I teach Boxing, Muay Thai and Tae Kwon Do one on one and thoroughly enjoy helping fighters from all different martial arts backgrounds develop strength, endurance, stamina and speed through the use of strength and conditioning and metabolic conditioning principals in personal training sessions.

I have been a world class martial artist in numerous different disciplines, for fifteen years.
In the twelfth year of my martial art erudition I started my journey to becoming a scientific personal trainer as I realised there was a definite need for bio-mechanical personal training in martial arts to help increase power, strength and speed, whilst minimising injuries and promoting technically correct motion.
My new business venture, a personal training business, was to be a missing and vital link between martial arts and scientific personal training, a hybrid and efficient form of combat: HYBRID KOMBAT!

I am Rhyanna Anita Edbrooke, born 12th March 1982, in Subiaco Australia.
As a child I was very fortunate. My parents practically let me participate in any sport I wanted. I started with Track and Field in primary school where I specialised in short-middle distance running, winning every interschool cross country championships I entered (which I think was all of them).
Moving into secondary school, I kept with track and field (which I persued until the end of my school years) and added netball to my sporting repertoire. I moved up into state netball and even though very good left before pursuing a career due to the unmotivating demeanor of my coach. During the later years of secondary school I also took up Tae Kwon Do.
This was the sport that took saw me represent Australia at three world championships, become a bronze medalist and give me the foundations to what Hybrid Kombat is today.
I am currently 32 years of age and have enjoyed being the owner/operator of Hybrid Kombat Pty Ltd for the past 4 years. I currently play GridIron for the state with the Western Australian Angels and participate in weight training and H.I.IT training almost everyday.
I love good quality organic food and predominantly live within the bounds of paleo. I love exploring healthy paleo foods using my amazing thermomix and discovering new ways to make this frantic world a little more holistic and a lot less stressful.
I am in a happy healthy relationship and enjoy spending time with my amazing family and friends. I love music, dance, reading, research, reading and sleep.
I love everything about my life and what I have already achieved and live everyday to its fullest whilst embracing the following quotations:

Your reason, goal or dream for utilising the services of Hybrid Kombat is my passion and the reason I am a personal trainer.

I have been personal trainer for 3 and a half years now and in conjunction with being your PT, I will also become your Life Coach, Personal Development Assistant, Nutritional Adviser, Stress Management Weapon, Weight Loss Assassin, Muscle Definition Queen and most importantly your Self-Esteem Booster and Loyal friend!
I started my formal education as a Personal Trainer with the Western Australian Fitness Academy (WAFA) in January 2010. Before the completion of certificate three and four in fitness I was selected, as one of few, into a 9month mentorship with Atlas Performance, under Sean Connolly, the director and one of Perth’s leading Strength & Conditioning coaches. The mentorship saw me take on and successfully run a franchise within the CBD Fitness first for two years where I quickly became one of the most sought after female trainers in Perth. During the mentorship I was also educated on all aspects that make a trainer exceptional and was able to develop a specialty niche, which was associated with my sport and what I thoroughly enjoyed.
I specialise in Strength & Conditioning, Metabolic Conditioning and Mixed Martial Arts (MMA). This specialty niche came from 12 years as an elite Tae Kwon Do Martial artist and 4 years as a professional contemporary dancer. During my martial arts career I represented Australia at three World Championships where my best achievements were a bronze medal in 2005 and 4th place in 2009. Due to competition at this level I know what it takes to achieve a total mind and body transformation: It takes dedication, commitment, lots hard work, blood sweat and tears and a “can-do” attitude that will never let you quit. This level of competition has taught me many great lessons and has given me the right to help you and others achieve their own personal transformations and overcome all hurdles. It has also given me a personal insight into the cross training , hence the focus on Metabolic Conditioning, needed by athletes , especially those within the field of martial art, that promotes ultimate performance at the highest levels and award winning performances.
It is due to this expertise and formal training I believe I can help those with a common goal to those looking to be the best within their chosen field. All that is needed is the right attitude from you and your faith in me as a personal trainer and your friend.
My promise to you: Hybrid Kombat and I will provide all the information and every resource needed by you to achieve your goals and transform into the god or goddess you’ve secretly awaited.

I am frequently asked my thoughts on CrossFit and why I don’t teach it.
Before I answer this question……NO, I am not a hater of CrossFit! My view is purely scientific. Haven’t you ever noticed how many people are injured whilst doing Crossfit and the absent longevity of Crossfit members? Haven’t you ever wondered why?
Well let me explain my own personal and professional view on CrossFit (remember, it’s based on science not emotion).
Firstly: Crossfit is a sport.
Unfortunately, the uniformed and mislead believe Crossfit is a fitness program designed to help them (the general population) get fit, fab and fantastic-WRONG!
Crossfit for beginners will more likely lead to injury as science; technically correct form and safe programming is unwisely omitted. I believe Crossfit needs to be clear about what it truly is and stop misguiding people looking for fitness/fat loss programs.
In my opinion the only reason you would participate in Crossfit, is to get better at Crossfit or compete at the next Crossfit games.
Secondly, Crossfit can be dangerous.
Four reasons why Crossfit can be dangerous:
- Intensive technical training sessions and safe programming is absent in the world of Crossfit.
In my professional view no-one should perform complex Olympic motions such as clean and press without a year of strength training. It can take years, not months or days and especially not a few “fundamental sessions” for those unfamiliar and new to Olympic lifting to grasp the complex principals, let alone technically master lifts and be able to combine them with strenuous strength and endurance exercises. I don’t know of anyone, including myself, who can say they have mastered Olympic lifting in a few sessions and would happily combine them with high intensity exercises. It would be like placing a white belt against a black belt after 3 or 4 lessons. It would simply lead to a defeated moral and possible injury.
- Haphazard and irresponsible use of Olympic lifting (Power) with endurance and strength exercises.
Olympic lifts are classed as neuromuscular (Intense physical and mental) exercises that are extremely taxing on the nervous system and should never be programmed with strength and endurance exercises. During an Olympic lifting session exercises should be prescribed alone, never with high intensity exercises such a sprints.
- Olympic lifting exercises (clean and press etc.) foolishly prescribed in high repetition ranges with insufficient rest periods.
Due to the complex nature of neuromuscular exercises, lower repetition sets which utilise 2-3 minute rest intervals are mandatory in Olympic sets. Longer rest intervals are necessary to give the body and brain sufficient time to recover before the next set. Short rest intervals and high repetitions prevent complete recovery resulting in improper form, creating a real possibility for injuries and dramatically reducing the effectiveness of the exercise.
- Crossfit recommends/encourages people with no training age (previous experience), previous injuries, postural imbalances and a general lack in strength and fitness to do Olympic Lifts and plyometrics.
From my knowledge, health consults or medical checks are absent from Crossfit.
At Hybrid Kombat Pty Ltd all clients must undergo an in-depth Health consult (including a hormone profile, basic strength and fitness test and a postural assessment) before participating in a basic Personal Training session.
An effective Health Consult acts like an insurance policy to both the client and Trainer: Revealing previous/current injuries, possible medical issues that may affect their physical and mental abilities to do exercise and providing the information necessary to provide the safest and most effective type of training for the client.
In Crossfit due to the advanced nature of exercises used health consults should be mandatory to determine whether it is safe for someone to actual attend a Crossfit fundamentals class. In my mind, a lack of health consult is naively ignoring your professional duty of care as a Trainer.
A summary of why I don’t recommend or teach CrossFit:
- I believe a base level of fitness and strength is necessary in Crossfit to help minimise injuries by preventing beginners or the unprepared complete complex strength and plyometric exercises.
- Olympic Lifts are at the top of the exercise food chain, followed closely by plyometrics and should only be prescribed to advanced clients.
- It takes years, even a lifetime; to understand the technical aspect of Olympic lifts let alone get the lifts technically perfect.
- Olympic lifts and plyometrics are beneficial, but are also very taxing on the nervous system, allowing a large margin for error and injury.
- Olympic lifts are deemed neuromuscular exercises as they tax the nervous system and must be programmed correctly with large rest periods of 120-180 seconds, lower repetitions and higher sets i.e. 3 reps 6 sets
- Olympic lifts should never be combined with strength and endurance exercises, they should be prescribed alone.
- Olympic Lifts and Plyometrics should only be prescribed to clients who are physically and mentally prepared to do them.
- Olympic lifts should never be attempted if you are already pre-exhausted. You must allow the nervous system to recover before an Olympic lifting sets.
- Prescribing strength and Olympic lifting = no existent benefit from either exercise.
- Crossfit utilises brilliant exercises, but very poor or absent-minded programming.
